Add workouts to past days
One of the few things that really annoys me about the Oura app is that when I realize I forgot to manually enter a workout for yesterday I just can't. Same thing if I get home late at night and want to add a workout from before midnight. Please add this functionality. It clearly is possible since the app also asks me about yesterday's workouts and then adjusts my activiy score accordingly.
Sleep Cycle Alarm Feature
With Oura rings being able to accurately track sleep cycles, there should be a feature like the popular app 'Sleep Cycle'. This app allows the user to set a wake-up window (15-45minutes long) and will start playing your alarm when you are at your 'prime' to wake up. The app unfortunately calculates this through the microphone, aka listening to when you might rustle and then start playing the alarm softly, gradually getting louder. It works extremely well still, and my sleep is much better waking up within my prime window than at a specific time. Since Oura can more accurately track sleep cycles, they should incorporate this feature. The only 'problems' people have mentioned with it is that this feature may drain the battery and that Oura only syncs with the app when the app is open. I can go weeks without opening my iOS app and all my data is still there. And by setting a wake-up 'window', 30 minutes before the phone can prompt the app/ring at the designated time, then it can send the data, and determine when to start the alarm. It doesn't have to constantly be syncing data the entire night. Also, this feature would be something I would be okay with paying a subscription fee for. Sleep cycle is $40 a year for premium features. Many Oura ring users (and users of wearable technology in general) abhor the current subscription model which locks your data behind a paywall which should be free since the technology isn't offering you any additional services, just providing you with the data it records. Whereas a sleep cycle feature is an additional service one could argue. I still believe wearable technologies shouldn't have subscriptions at all with the high costs of the initial purchase (But I understand that model is smart business for the company to stay afloat - and the cost of Oura is much lower than say Whoop) , but including this feature is one-way Oura can provide a 'service' to the user to better justify a subscription cost if that is a permanent feature for the foreseeable future.
live hrv, and oxygen measuring
just like you can measure heart rate in the app, it would be nice if you could also measure your hrv and blood oxygen in the middle of the day and add tags to it.
Import Glucose levels from Apple health
In addition to your cgm partnerships, import glucose levels from Apple health for everyone else with a cgm who doesn’t use one of your partner services. Or import directly from cgm manufacturers like dexcom and freestyle.
Begin Oura ring recording sessions from widget on phone or watch
Starting a recording session from the apple watch would be useful. So when I start a workout on my apple watch and I can also prompt the ring to record as well. Many watch wearables may not record all of what Oura can collect (for example my watch does not record SpO2). Recording this data by prompting Oura to actively track until the activity is completed would be very useful. Sure, active tracking of some data will put a drain on the battery momentarily, but that's up to the user if they want to be actively recording HR, SpO2, etc during a certain session and being able to start a session besides in the main app would be useful, especially on the apple watch app.
Sync workout data with other apps
During workouts that are typically initiated by other wearables (apple watch, fitbit. even phone apps like strava) it would be useful that if they overlap any in the same time window, that they can sync with each other and the data can complement each other.
LHR live heart rate as iPhone Widget and/or watch Complication
While, the Apple Watch already shows it’s our heart rate monitoring. It would be great to have an Apple Watch complication, showing that reading from the Oura ring. Alternately, it would be very helpful to have a widget, showing the live heart rate (now available on the newest GEN 3 horizon model) Temperature would also be helpful on both.
Option to only track location when tracking workout HR
It appears that if location is turned on, Oura pings for location every minute. I like having location tracking on for walking, hiking, or cycling, but would rather it stopped tracking when I’m not actively recording a workout, as it’s draining the battery on my device. The only workaround I can see right now is to remember to quit the app when I’m not tracking a workout, which I won’t remember to do. Thanks!
Add support for custom tags
As users of Oura, many of us are invested in improving our health and sleep. We experiment with various supplements and tools to achieve this goal. However, the current Tags feature is not suitable for tracking our supplement usage. The current "workaround" would be to tag the "Supplement" category, have a parsable comment like "substance | dose" and then build your own web platform to draw correlations between substances and results, since comments data is only available through API... Oura should make it easier to track supplements, either in-app or via integration with Apple Health medications. Not only would this be a valuable feature for users, but it would also provide Oura with a valuable dataset for research. Implementing supplement tagging would be a win-win for both users and Oura.
