As a user with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, I would like to see an optional “chronic condition” or “autonomic disorder” mode (e.g. Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, ME/CFS). This mode could adjust insights and prompts to prioritize baseline stability, pacing, and recovery rather than encouraging continual increases in activity. Suggested improvements: Highlight correlations between: High readiness days Higher activity levels HRV drops, readiness declines, or symptom reports 24–72 hours later (delayed or cumulative response) Praise consistent baselines and stability rather than increases Reframe rest days as protective or restorative, not missed opportunities Allow customisable goals beyond steps or activity, such as: “Prioritise recovery” “Protect baseline" (after a high activity or high stress day) Highlight delayed recovery patterns following periods of increased activity Reduce or suppress activity-increasing prompts when symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, or palpitations are logged Include language acknowledging non-linear energy limits and delayed recovery common in chronic and autonomic conditions Optional context tags (e.g. illness, pain flare, heat exposure, prolonged standing, compression use, hydration focus) to improve pattern recognition Pregnancy Mode already demonstrates that Oura can adapt insights for specific physiological contexts; a chronic condition or disability mode would offer similar benefits for long-term users. Additionally, these modes should be able to stack with other modes (such as Pregnancy Mode, as having a chronic condition or disability does not preclude pregnancy.)
